Metal band Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine is no stranger to the spotlight, even if it is for controversial reasons. From his stance on gay marriage to his views on Obama’s origins, the frontman has never shied away from giving his opinion. That’s Right, a Womanless Beauty Pageant

On April 26th at 7:00 PM Alpha Sigma Tau hosts the annual Womanless Beauty Pageant. That’s right, a womanless beauty pageant. Only male RSU students are allowed to participate, provided they dress like women. All make-up and various other supplies are provided for the men who participate. Admission is $3 and the event is open to the public. While live streaming himself working on his newest track, multiple-Grammy nominated electronic artist Deadmau5 received a Tweet from a loyal fan, who sent him a link of a sample of the unfinished single with the fan's vocals dubbed over it. After giving the track a listen, Deadmau5 was not only impressed with the way it sounded, but contacted the fan to work with him on the full length track. From Garden State to Twilight, major motion pictures have taken a liking to alternative music for their soundtracks. The newest book-to-movie blockbuster, The Hunger Games, features new music from Arcade Fire, the Decemberists, and many others. Bait and Switch: The Shins Release Second Track, Music Video from Upcoming Album

Indie-rock legends The Shins drop a second track from their long awaited new album. The New Mexico natives have released a music video to the new track, Bait and Switch, to promote their upcoming return to the alternative music scene. Silversun Pickups to Release New Album

Indie-fuzz-rock band, Silversun Pickups announce the upcoming release of their third album, Neck of the Woods. The Los Angeles natives made a buzz on the mainstream scene in 2006 with their debut release, Carnavas, with tracks such as Lazy Eye, which made the top 10 Billboard Modern Rock Charts in 2007, and was also featured in the video game Rock Band.
