September Music 2012

One month into the semester and the homework is piling up, but so is the new music! What better way to study the whole night through than with great music from top notch artists.

We start September off with a brand new one from Two Door Cinema Club. Having worked with producer Jacknife Lee, who also produced Silversun Pickups newest release, a lot is being hyped for this Irish band’s second release. If the single is any indication, the new album Beacon should make for some great late night study sessions.

Folk-rock favorites, The Avett Brothers announced their sixth release in June and it finally makes its way out September 11. Following the critically acclaimed 2009 release of I and Love and You their newest album, The Carpenter, is sure to be a fan favorite and a relaxing way to calm your nerves before a big test.

After a 13 year hiatus, Ben Folds Five makes a triumphant return with The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind. It may be surprising to know that this is only the trio’s fourth studio album, especially with all they’ve already accomplished. The single, Do It Anyway is a sure sign that BFF still has it. Look for Ben, Darren, and Robert to join your study group on September 18.

Other artist to be on the lookout for this month include: Animal Collective, Imagine Dragons, Dave Matthews Band, Pet Shop Boys, Seapony, The xx, Band of Horses, Dinosaur Jr., Grizzley Bear, The Killers, Deadmau5, and Mumford and Sons.

It’s a good looking month in the world of True Alternative Music and you can check out the best of it on 91.3 FM, Real College Radio and by streaming at rsuradio.com
