Oklahoma's favorite son

Will Rogers 133th birthday includes 4 days of activities beginning November 1st in Claremore. Oklahoma’s favorite son as well as a prolific writer, movie star and cowboy will be honored with a parade, a number of events at the Will Rogers museum and a birthday party at his birthplace in Oologah.

The first two days will focus on children, with a day at the museum, old fashioned games and a Cherokee storyteller. Friday’s events will be held at the Will Rogers Ranch in Oologah including a birthday cake and a musical production. That evening, a Night at the Museum is scheduled. Saturday, an antique and classic car show will be held at the museum, with a special tribute to Will Rogers, hosted by the Indian Women’s Pocahontas club . “Hats off the Will” begins at 1pm at the museum theatre.

Beginning at 4pm, the Reveille Rotary Club will present the annual Will Rogers parade through downtown Claremore. Jim Halsey, Award-winning music and entertainment promoter, along with his wife Manisa Crumbo Halsey, daughter of renowned American Indian artist Woody Crumbo, will serve as grand marshalls for the parade.
