Volunteers

The MLK Week of Service has become an important project at Rogers State University and one of the largest volunteer service projects in the area.

Part of RSU’s goals is to promote and encourage student, faculty, staff, and community interaction in a positive academic climate that creates opportunities for cultural, intellectual, and personal enrichment for the University and the communities it serves.

The MLK Week of Service is a powerful tool by which RSU positively engages with the community to create change and improvement in the area. All events are listed below.

MLK Art and Poetry Contest Take part in the Student Art and Poetry Contest honoring the works of Dr. Martin Luther King. Submissions are due on Tuesday by 5pm in the Office of Student Affairs. The winners will present their work during the Thursday night screening of “Freedom on my Mind” beginning at 5:30pm in the Baird Performance Studio. The two winning entries will receive a $100 gift card.

Monday – Volunteer @ Habitat for Humanity from 1pm to 4pm

Tuesday – Remembrance Ceremony 10am Will Rogers Auditorium

Volunteer @ Claremore Veteran’s Center from 12:30pm – 2:30pm

Wednesday – American Red Cross Blood Drive 10am – 3pm Centennial Center

Thursday – Movie “Freedom on my Mind” 5:30pm Baird Performance Studio

Following the movie, a panel discussion will discuss Civil Rights
