Alternative rock band, Chastity Belt recently released their new album, Time To Go Home. This is the second full length record for the dynamic, all female group that formed in Walla Walla, Washington in 2010. Julia Sharpiro, Lydia Lund, Annie Truscott, and Gretchen Grimm tell stories through their lyrics.

The group is hitting the airwaves with a strong focus on gender discrimination, highlighting the patriarchal pressures women carry to this day.. On the first track of the album, the chorus boasts: “He was just another man trying to teach me something.” Virtually every song exemplifies the theme that women should have no regrets in doing what they want, when they want to.

Chastity Belt is of the indie genre with a clear inspiration from punk rock and have a wide range of sound. With some songs, such as “The Thing”, heavy guitar riffs accompanied with screaming lyrics will make you bang your head back and forth. Other songs, such as “Drone” and “Trapped”, will leave you focusing on the depth of lyrics that are draped over smooth melodies from the guitar, bass and drums.

The women of Chastity Belt will be taking over College Radio for the next several weeks. Tune in to 91.3 or stream the station at www.rsuradio.com.
