RIP Glen Frey

The past month has been a trying time for music fans. Social media is abuzz about the seemingly constant stream of well-known people who have died recently. The most recent death that has shocked the nation is that of Glen Frey, guitarist and singer for the legendary 70s and 80s rock band The Eagles.

Glen Frey founded The Eagles along with Don Henley in 1971. He died at age 67 from complications caused by rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia. Frey was an essential element of The Eagles distinct vocal sound, providing near perfect harmonies. The band is best known for their 1976 hit Hotel California, and put together a string of chart topping studio albums, a number-one live album, and seven top-five singles in the United States.

After the Eagles, Frey went on to have a solo music career. During this time, he released 12 songs which made it the US Top 100 charts. In all Frey released five studio albums, the first two of which went RIAA Certified Gold. He acted in numerous TV shows, including Miami Vice, Wiseguy, and  and South of Sunset. He appeared in several  film acting roles; Let’s Get Harry and Jerry Mcguire. Frey also started his own record label, Mission Records.
