The Center of the University Music Festival announced Friday that there will be no 2016 festival.

Organizers claim that the festival has outgrown the previous location in the Blue Dome District in Downtown Tulsa. Last year’s event took place across three main stages, including the Guthrie Green, and venues and bars across the area. The entire area was shut down for the two day event.

The festival hopes to make a return in 2017 and continue to grow the momentum that had built up over the past 3 years. There were approximately 100,000 attendees to the 2015 event, and the break and potential move will look to allow for more attendance, and larger performances. Organizers assure Tulsa that it will remain in the city.

The event grew from

a free concert in 2013 to a ticketed festival with over 100 bands, venders, art, and attractions in 2015. Past performers at Center of the Universe include OK GO, Twenty One Pilots, AWOLNATION, Cold War Kids, Panic! At the Disco, and hundreds of national, regional, and local artists.
