Prince has passed away at the age of 57, according to reports.

Prince, whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, had been battling an illness. His jet was forced to make an emergency landing on April 15th due to the medical condition. He had also canceled two recent concerts due to health issues. The musician was found dead at his Paisley Park compound on April 21st.

PrincePrince is one of the most recognizable figures in music for his eccentric nature, frequent name changes, and, above all else, his music. His career includes 32 Grammy nominations, 7 Grammy wins, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, a Super Bowl performance, and over 100 million albums sold. Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Prince was an over-the-top celebrity who captivated audiences over three decades. His persona often overshadowed his talent, but the products of his career, music and films, will always be the most memorable aspect of Prince’s presence. If Prince had lived to be 80, we can assume he would still be performing, writing, recording, producing, and engrossing himself in art.
