Gaelic Storm Brings Their Celtic Sound to Tulsa

On Tuesday, August 30th, Tulsa will be receiving a sound that strays from the traditional Celtic sounds usually heard in the state. The Celtic music group Gaelic Storm plays at Cain’s Ballroom. It’s not every day that we get a multinational band like Gaelic Storm here in Oklahoma, and with them they are bringing music with their mix of traditional Celtic sounds with rock and other modern styles of music.

Gaelic Storm has been around for two decades bringing their own distinctive Celtic sound to a variety of venues. They’ve toured in many countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, and Japan. They were cast in the 1997 movie Titanic as the band that played “An Irish Party in Third Class”, and a Simlish version of their song Scalliwags was featured in the Bon Voyage expansion pack to the popular video game The Sims 2.

Gaelic Storm brings selections from their album Full Irish which is a culmination of fan favorites and concert staples from 2004 to 2014. They take their traditional Gaelic sound and fuse it with more modern influences from folk and rock among other genres. Many of their albums have charted in the top ten in international charts. Six of these have been at number one, including Full Irish, Chicken Boxer, and Cabbage among others.

Doors open for the group at 7:30 P.M. with the show starting at 8:00 P.M. Tickets range from $18.00 to $33.00 with mezzanine tickets exclusive to patrons 21 years old or older. With over 3,000 shows under their belt, the show at the Cain’s should prove to be another successful step in the bands career, and an entertaining night for the residents of Tulsa.
