Press Play: Overcoats

It’s been a crazy year for the band Overcoats. The duo has been on a major U.S. tour for most of the year. And, their debut album Young was released to widespread critical acclaim.

Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell met at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. They grew to be very close friends and have been writing music and performing together ever since. Check out their new music video for “I Don’t Believe in Us”:

Overcoats has a very unique sound. The lyrics are often very personal and emotional. That, paired with the raw harmonies of the duo, create a vulnerable feel that’s all too relatable.  Musically, Overcoats have a minimalist approach to electronic pop with a hint of folk. All of those pieces go together to create something truly breathtaking. Watch them perform live at NPR Music:
