More Bands Added to NMF Lineup

Norman Music Festival released their second announcement of the lineup this week and it is amazing. Back in January, we wrote an article about the first lineup announcement and briefly discussed the headliners. Parquet Courts, Japanese Breakfast, and Tune-Yards are the headliners and we play all three of those bands here on RSU Radio so you know its good music. It is exciting to see the lineup grow with bands such as Chastity Belt, My Brightest Diamond, 18andCounting, local band Husbands, and more! Here are a few performances that you don’t want to miss.

Chastity Belt is a four-piece band of women who really love each other. According to their Bandcamp, they began to pass time on tour by giving each other genuine, detailed compliments, which not only undoubtedly made their environment more positive but also brought them closer together. Their latest album released in July of 2017, I Used To Spend So Much Time Alone, has a darker tone than their earlier work. The album discusses the topic of depression and is full of honest, gritty lyrics. They will be taking the stage at 7:15 PM on Saturday following Sun Seeker.

18andCounting will be dominating the Fowler Automotive Main Stage at 4:00 PM on Saturday. Their latest EP, Animal Skins, is a raw blend of heavy vocals, violin melodies, and smooth synths. This may be odd to say, but it’s almost like you can hear the texture of the music. You can check out the full EP on 18andCounting’s Bandcamp here.

One of them lives in Oklahoma City. The other lives in Washington, D.C. However, Wil Norton and Danny Davis can still work together to make the catchiest pop tunes despite the thousands of miles between them. The dynamic duo goes by the band name Husbands. Their Bandcamp page says that they are “currently jingling/jangling” which hopefully means creating more new music. They released an album of two songs on the first day of 2018. The two songs, “No One’s Dreaming” and “Amazon” are insanely good and are currently spinning on our station.

Norman Music Festival isn’t going to stop with this latest lineup announcement. We will keep you updated with any other lineup announcements, so keep your eyes peeled! This festival is happening April 26 – 28. The greatest part is that you can see all of these incredible bands for free!  The official Norman Music Festival schedule can be seen on their website.
