New Season, New Local Songs

It’s official.  Spring is here.  The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and the new music is dropping. While Oklahoma may wildly fluctuate temperature-wise, one thing is for sure: March’s releases were hot.

Beetle Bee-from behind messy hair (Album)

Beetle Bee released from behind messy hair at the end of the month.  The Oklahoma-artist dubbed her do-it-yourself style as “bedroom grunge”, a mixture of the ever-dreamy bedroom pop genre (which she denies in the title of one of her tracks, “I Am Not a Bedroom Pop Girl”) and something a little more raw.  For those looking to hear unique and intimate tracks, this nine-song album is for you.

Blake Burgess-“Roll On” (Single)

Mid-March brought us another glimpse of Blake Burgess’s upcoming record, Room at the Top. “Roll On” is the first of two singles released before his sophomore album drops.  Room at the Top will be welcomed to the world in April, with a record release show in OKC on the 13th.

Poolboy-“Be Radical” (Single)

After a brief period of silence, Norman’s-own Poolboy have returned with a cool new single, “Be Radical” and the promise of a new record ready in summer.  The song rocks, rolls, and has us excited for their upcoming album.  The band released an accompanying music video, where they flex their arts-and-crafts skills with lipstick and firecrackers.

Saint Loretto-Passage / S (Album)

Oklahoma City/Austin-based, Evan Crowley dropped Passage / S.  As Saint Loretto, he’s created a ten-song album of infectiously boppy tunes.  The album holds the modern-nostalgia of feeling 80’s-inspired, while throwing in unexpected sounds to bring the record into 2019.  Saint Loretto are playing a record release show April 19th.
