Randy Blythe FREED from Czech Prison

Thursday, August 2nd, Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe was finally released on bail from a prison in Prague, Czech Republic. He was held there for five weeks after being arrested on charges of manslaughter stemming from a 2010 concert. Police accused Blythe of causing physical harm to a fan who later suffered brain trauma, slipped into a coma and died. In the 2 years that led up to Blythe’s arrest, the band and their management have maintained that they knew nothing of the incident and were never notified about the fan’s death…continue reading →

Cody on moving to NYC (blog 4)

Misconceptions (The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place) As a follow-up to my advice post about living in NYC, I felt the need to throw in some more personal advice to anyone seriously considering moving to a city like NYC. The old saying “if I can do it, so can you” has never rang more true than with me, since living here isn’t as different or difficult as one may think, and this is coming from a guy that spent most of his teenage life on a farm. Here are two of…continue reading →

Cody on Living in New York (blog 3)

How to Not Suck at Living in NYC This blog post is not remotely funny. For those here for laughs, that’s your parental advisory warning. Growing up in a small town, I acquired preconceived notions on life in bigger cities, specifically places such as New York City. I assume many younger people unfamiliar with big cities have been given lectures/lessons from older people (i.e. parents) about the dangers of living in an urban area. For anyone curious about living in New York City or anything bigger than where you come from, here are…continue reading →

Cody & the Big Apple (blog 2)

To say that I’ve hit the ground running in New York is the understatement of the century, but I haven’t been running in years (I don’t apologize for terrible jokes like that). From concerts to work to exploring the city, every day I’ve been here has had at least one major event, show or goal that I’ve needed to accomplish. Getting a view into the opposite spectrum of college radio, from a label or promotion company’s point of view, has been one of the biggest eye-openers. For those who are unfamiliar with how…continue reading →

Hey, RSU Radio fans! It's Dr. Drewcifer of the Industrial Complex and I recently attended the extreme metal Mecca known as Maryland Deathfest. For the past ten years, metalheads worldwide have congregated in Baltimore every May for the country's premier underground metal party. I had high expectations for this year’s festival, and they were all exceeded. Maryland Deathfest brought in a lot of big-name acts from the underground metal world this year, with the lineup included bands like Autopsy, Electric Wizard, Morbid Angel, Agalloch, Napalm Death, Nasum, and Suffocation. The first night of…continue reading →
