Orville Peck Returns With Dazzling New Music Video

Canadian country singer Orville Peck has shared a music video for his single “Queen of the Rodeo” from his 2019 debut album, Pony. The music video is directed by Austin Peters (Hiam, Chvrches, Bastille) and features Orville Peck crooning his heart out amidst the pageantry of a modern-day rodeo. The video also highlights the pageantry of drag and features RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Louisiana Purchase as well as the song’s original inspiration, First Nations community member and drag queen Thanks Jem.

Thanks Jem stars as an unlikely pageant candidate who faces her own fears and wins the crown. The video also features a brief, David Lynchian interlude of Peck performing a particularly eerie rendition of his track “Roses are Falling.”  The video concludes with the message, “For all the LGBTQ+ and two-spirit community members working and performing in rodeos, ranches, and roadhouses across North America.”

The country artist will be taking to the states this spring on a North American tour. He’ll be making a stop in OKC at the Jones Assembly on Friday the 13th. Find tickets here.
