Eat & Be Merry at “Eat Street” in Tulsa

Foodies in the Tulsa area can rejoice as the first-ever Eat Street Food Truck Festival arrives in downtown Tulsa on Saturday from 11 to 10. Over fifteen food trucks will park at the Blue Dome District and serve cuisine from around the world. Hosted by The Dog House and Arnie’s Bar, this food festival will feature food from areas within the country like New York, as well as foreign delights from places like Vietnam and Mexico. RSU to Host Business, Technology and Sport Management Industry Day

Rogers State University will host the second annual Business, Technology and Sport Management Industry Day on Wednesday, November 14th on the Claremore campus. The day’s events include a career, internship and graduate school fair from 9 to 11am in Herrington Hall. Beginning at 12 noon, the RSU Innovation Center will host the annual Global Entrepreneur Week luncheon and Networking dessert. Hillcat Basketball is back on RSU Radio

Hillcat basketball is back, and you can hear the games right here on RSU Radio! The season officially begins October 30th, with the men’s team taking on Central Baptist at the Claremore Expo Center. The women play at the University of Tulsa on Halloween night. Both games begin at 7:00P. Homecoming is set for November 10th with the women and men taking on Northwestern Oklahoma State at 2 and 4, respectively. “Paints the town Blue” Homecoming 2012

RSU will be “painting the town blue” November 6th – 10th as students, staff, administration and the community take part in this year’s Homecoming festivities. Monday’s events include the “Safe Sex Mobile” at various locations around campus from 9a to 12N. Tuesday’s events include the “Paint it Red Shirt and Car Decorating” beginning at 2pm at the Centennial Center Rotunda. RSU Radio will be there promoting the event. Will Rogers Days

Will Rogers 133th birthday includes 4 days of activities beginning November 1st in Claremore. Oklahoma’s favorite son as well as a prolific writer, movie star and cowboy will be honored with a parade, a number of events at the Will Rogers museum and a birthday party at his birthplace in Oologah. The first two days will focus on children, with a day at the museum, old fashioned games and a Cherokee storyteller. Local Band: The Bourgeois

The Bourgeois, one of Tulsa’s rising local bands, have been tabbed to open up for a band frequently played here on RSU Radio, The Violet Lights. Just a couple months after playing Cain’s, Free Tulsa, and being asked to do a taping for This Land Press, The Bourgeois will appear at The Downtown Lounge this week. Not being Americana or, according to the band, “the new Tulsa sound,” The Bourgeois consider themselves to be outsiders of the Tulsa music scene. Gary “Turbo” Webb wins National Award in New York City

Gary “Turbo” Webb received top honors when he was named best “Specialty Music Director of the Year” while attending this year’s College Music Journal (CMJ) Music Marathon over fall break in New York City. Webb competed against other announcers from stations in Montreal, Quebec; Linesville, PA and South Orange, NJ. The CMJ Music Marathon is the world’s most important platform for the discovery of new music. Enter the Asylum…If You Dare

October is a month full of frightful fun, and if you’re really ready for a scare you can enter The Asylum, a haunted attraction in Nowata. The Asylum has a dark history that revolves around a 1940s sanitarium. Many details surrounding a horrific fire within the sanitarium have been left unknown…until now. Visitors are taken through a vacant branch of what used to be Eastern State Hospital. The mental institution operated before regulations on patient treatment were enforced.
