Rocklahoma

Emily-

If I had to describe my experience at Rocklahoma 2012 in just one word it would simply be AWESOME. The lineup for the whole weekend was great, but there were two performances that really stood out to me – SLASH and ROB ZOMBIE.

I’m a fan of Guns n’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, but my true love for Slash’s came as a result of his 2010 solo album. Accompanied by Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, he performed songs from his solo album, Guns n’ Roses, and Velvet Revolver. It was a great experience to stand only feet away from the famous guitarist; he was very impressive! A+.

Rob Zombie performed the darkest and most theatrical show of the entire weekend. The combination of horror and music fit together like a glove, and Rob Zombie really made the show about the fans. He involved the crowd and was sure to walk around the area so all the fans could catch a good glimpse. I was thoroughly impressed by his showmanship.

Though I’m looking forward to the next Rocklahoma, I’m not sure that it can top this year.

Turbo-

It’s been my not so humble opinion that Rocklahoma’s previous lineups were just, well not “metal” enough for me. That changed this year with the introduction of the heaviest line up the annual festival has had to offer.

Bands like Megadeth, Trivium, Rob Zombie and Hellyeah graced the stage. Thjrow in Volbeat and several local bands to the rockin’ extravaganza and how could a Metalhead like me not want to go? Having said that, I had a blast! Complete with vendors that carried a variety of rock memorabilia and clothing, Fair style food (Funnel cakes, etc.) and plenty of places to “do your business”, I think the event was very well done and a complete success. Strangely enough, of all the things I see at the multitude of live shows I attend every year, I did not see a single fight break out.

All the way around the board, there was a great vibe about Rocklahoma and if next year’s lineup mirrors 2012, I shall definitely be attending again.
