Big Plans for July 4th

todayJuly 1, 2013

Area Communities plan events

A number of communities have a variety of events scheduled for the 4th of July. In Claremore, the annual celebration begins at 7am with the Kids Fishing Derby at the Claremore Lake. The event has grown so much through the years that, for the first 450 kids, they will receive a free rod and reel, tackle box and bait. Prizes will be awarded according to age divisions.

The park will close at 12 noon and reopen at 6:30pm, free to the public, with musicians such as “Southern Highway”, “Heartland Xpress” and the “Ben Neikirk Band” playing everything from country, bluegrass, light rock and pop. Those attending will park at the Rogers County Roundup Club and be shuttled, courtesy of Pelivan, back and forth from the park. The fireworks will begin around 9:40pm.

Grand Lake Festivals is planning their annual Arts, Crafts, Music and Cajun Festival on Thursday at the Grove Civic Center. Doors open at 9am and the day-long event is free to the public. Arts and crafts booths along with authentic Cajun food will be available.

Fiddle player, Jana Jae, will perform with the Cajun band “Chris Miller and the Bayou Roots” playing a variety of Zydeco, swamp pop and much more. For more information on the Grand Lake festivals, call 918-786-8896 or go to their website at www.grandlakefestivals.com.
