More than 60 student-athletes recently came together to wrap and pack over 90 shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child project by Samaritan’s Purse. This shoebox wrapping party was a first for the Hillcat Athletic Department, but the idea has been around for years. Since 1993, nearly 100 million children in over 130 countries have received a simple shoebox gift from Operation Christmas Child. RSU’s Athletic Director is extremely pleased with the attendance.

“We had a great turnout of student-athletes and coaches. I know that the work they did Wednesday night will make a difference in the lives of children across the globe. I appreciate our student-athletes giving up a night of their lives to make a difference in someone else’s,” says Ryan Erwin.

The athletes surpassed their goal of 80 boxes by completing 91 boxes to be sent to children all across the globe. You can view pictures from the event by visiting the RSU Hillcats Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RSUHillcatAthletics. .
