One of RSU’s favorite metalheads is moving on to bigger and heavier things in life. He recently bid farewell as the host of the metal meltdown here at RSU Radio. Turbo has been the host for five years and was picked as the best radio personality for the Absolute Best of Tulsa Awards this summer. He says he has learned so much about himself from his experiences at the station. He learned that in order to succeed as a metal radio host in Oklahoma, he needed to eat, breathe, and live metal music. And that is exactly what he did.
“What I’ll miss most is just doing the show and being involved in the scene as heavily as a show like this requires. I’m not going to lie, I loved being the voice of metal music around these parts. I wish I had been afforded the opportunity to expand on that,” says Turbo.
91.3 opened up more doors for Turbo than he could have ever imagined. Even if it was a door that led him straight into a heavy metal mosh pit, Turbo took every opportunity he could get his hands on.
“RSU Radio gave me a rare opportunity in FM radio to play music one doesn’t normally hear on the FM band. I got to be the guy for real metal music in Oklahoma,” says Turbo.
Turbo has passed the torch on to his co-headbanger, Serj. The staff at RSU radio wishes Turbo good luck in his heavy-metal future.
