Press Play: Ben Khan

todayMay 8, 2015

British musician Ben Khan made quite the splash in May of 2014 with the release of his first EP, 1992. On May 11th, 2015, he looks to again make waves when his newest EP, 1000, becomes available to the public.

Artistically, Khan is extremely eclectic. The 22 year old infuses several musical genres such as electronic rock, synth-pop, rhythm and blues, funk, and even a touch of hip hop, in the creation of his latest album. It may sound like this is a musical overload, but the combination definitely works. The record comes off as a futuristic electronic blues and funk piece.

Over these well produced sounds, we then have the icing on the cake in the form of Khan’s smooth, soulful voice. His is one that can contend with the best singers in rhythm and blues. The lyrics he uses on the 1000 EP are catchy, often poppy, and will leave you yearning for more than the mere four songs that the album contains.

With his first two EPs, Ben Khan introduces us to his new sound. It is sleek, inventive and above all else, refreshing. Many songs from his recent EPs are airing right now on 91.3 FM. Be sure to tune in to hear the future of music.
