Oklahoma musician John Moreland will be making a national TV appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Moreland will play on Monday, February 1st.

The singer and songwriter has earned some national, and even international acclaim as of late. He gained some mainstream notoriety in 2012 when three of his songs were featured on the TV show Sons of Anarchy, but he has been a big name in the Oklahoma music community for some time. He was a member of several punk and metal bands, before starting his midwestern style punk group John Moreland and the Black Gold Band in 2005. In the late 2000’s, Moreland began focusing more on performing solo folk music than punk or metal.

In 2015 Moreland released his album High on Tulsa Heat. The album featured some of Tulsa’s prominent musicians, including John Calvin Abney and Jesse Aycock. The album was considered by many to be one of the best Oklahoma albums of the year. He also recently announced that he will be taking the stage at Bonnaroo in 2016.

The extra attention Moreland has received lately is the culmination of a unique voice, soulful songwriting, and years of effort put into music.
