Press Play: Nahko and Medicine for the People

It is common for listeners to look up to musicians and artists as role models. This is more than likely due to musicians having the creativity and courage to forge new paths. It is their willingness to stand out and try something new. Nahko and Medicine for the People are a great example of how daring to be different pays off.

Since their incarnation, Nahko and Medicine for the People have decided to make music that means something.  It easy to for listeners to distinguish between artists who are paying attention to the state of the world, and those who are not. Listeners know one thing for sure, Nahko and Medicine for the People have been paying attention since the release of their first album Dark As Night back in 2013. The band continued their social activism through music with their later albums On the Verge (2014) and HOKA (2016).

Frontman Nahko Bear has been conscious and courageous since his teenage years when he left home early to journey on the path of self-discovery and adventure. Nahko found himself looking up to musicians like Connor Oberst and Bob Dylan.  Like his role models, he decided he wanted to forge a new path of musical storytelling with lyrics that are infused with meditations, spiritual and political themes, social action, and holistic living.
