Tech N9ne Brings His Chopper Style Raps to Tulsa

On September 20th Aaron Dontez Yates, better known by his stage name, Tech N9ne, will be giving a performance at the Cain’s Ballroom that is sure to impress. Tech N9ne has accomplished much in his career including the sale of 2 million albums independently, owning his own record label, and headlining the longest rap tour in history. He is truly one of the most prolific rappers of our time.

Tech N9ne has been active since 1991 producing 17 albums with the newest album being The Storm, which will release later this year in December. N9ne’s music has appeared on several television programs, movies, and video games including My Super Sweet Sixteen, Alpha Dogs, and 25 to Life just to name a few. Yates was set to score the entirety of Alpha Dogs, but more well know tracks were used to juxtapose his music. Yates is also an actor making appearances in both Vengeance and Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D.

Though Tech N9ne’s career started in the early 90s he has been rapping since he was a young boy. Tech N9ne is an expert of chopper style rapping, a rap style that involves fast paced rhyming or rapping. This style of rapping is what lead to his stage name referring to the TEC-9 semi-automatic pistol. Though originally the name referenced a weapon Tech N9ne has found his own meaning in his stage name. He equates it to the final style of rhythm with tech standing for technique and nine being a common symbol of completion.

With his unique stage presence and lyrically complex raps, Tech N9ne’s performance is sure to please the Tulsa crowd. Advance order tickets are $31 and on the day of the show tickets are $33. For guest 21 years or older mezzanine tickets are $46. The doors open at 6:30 in the evening and the show starts at 7:30. It will surely be a show to remember as one of the most prolific rappers of our time graces the stage in Tulsa.
