John Moreland Announces Oklahoma Shows

John Moreland has had a huge year. He is currently on tour across the United States, and will soon be headed to Europe for a string of headlining shows. He has appeared in national publications, most recently with an extensive interview in GQ. Most notably, he released his latest album, Big Bad Luv, on 4AD records. Not to mention this impressive billboard near 18th and Boston.

All of this success has John on the road for a lot of the year, which means he rarely gets to play in Oklahoma. The last time Moreland played a ticketed concert in Tulsa, he sold out the Vanguard. He recently made a trip to Oklahoma City and Norman to play at both Guestroom Records locations. Moreland has also been known to play a secret show now and then, but you have to be lucky or in the know to catch one. Nearly one year after his sold out Vanguard performance, Moreland has announced two Oklahoma dates. He will play at the Cain’s Ballroom on December 1, and December 2 at the Tower Theater in Oklahoma City.

The latest album from Moreland takes a much more optimistic tone than his previous two solo releases. Americana, country, blues, and rock influences compliment songs about love and finding one’s self. Never one to be unidimensional, Moreland’s set feels different from song to song. He incorporates a band for a fuller sound, and lets his big, heart wrenching vocals shine on solo songs. These shows come on the heels of Moreland sharing the stage with the likes of Iron and Wine and John Prine. Big Bad Luv is out now on 4AD Records.
