Press Play: Dan Croll

Emerging Adulthood is the sophomore album that Dan Croll did not know he could make, but we are so glad he did.

Dan Croll was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England. He aimed on making it as a professional rugby player, but after major leg injury, he turned to music. At 18, Croll moved to Liverpool and attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), an institution founded by Sir Paul McCartney.

In 2014, Dan Croll released his debut album Sweet Disarray. The album was a hit in the UK and elsewhere. Songs from the album even appeared in video games, including FIFA 14 and Grand Theft Auto V.

After the success of his first outing, Croll questioned his future.

There were a few personal hurdles and I was wondering if I had it in me to do another album. Would I do it as a solo artist? Do I want to form a band? Do I want to move cities? Do I want to move countries? How do I do this? ” [NY Daily News]

It was from this fear of the unknown that Dan Croll found the inspiration for the album.

Emerging Adulthood is a gift to anyone who has ever felt the crippling anxiety of taking the next step. It serves as encouragement that everything will be fine, claiming that it is how you respond to this new challenge that defines you.

Clearly, Dan Croll is a skilled musician. He has wrote and performed all of his songs. Additionally, he plays all of the instruments on the record. It’s no wonder that he was one of eight LIPA student chosen to have a one-on-one session with its founder Paul McCartney.

On September 7, Dan Croll begins his North American tour. Sadly, none of the stops are here in Oklahoma. So, the closest thing we have is the album and it is superb.
