Karen & The Sorrows is one Alt-Country band you won’t soon forget. While their new album The Narrow Place comes out August 25th, it has already been named one of the “Sweet Albums You Should Buy on Bandcamp Today to Support Trans Rights,” by Noisey.
Since their debut album, The Names of Things released in 2014, the girls Elana Redfield (pedal steel), Tami Johnson (drums), and Karen Pittelman (vocals, guitar) have made great strides in making country music more open for LGBT artists.
Karen & The Sorrows co-founded the Gary Ole Opry, the first queer country music festival. The band also hosts the Queer Country Quarterly. Since its start, the Queer Country Quarterly has had over 60 acts.
Here’s the latest music video for their song “Back Down to the Dirt.”
