The Hop Jam Announce 2018 Headliners

todayApril 16, 2018

Background

It isn’t every day that major touring artists gather in the same place, on the same night in downtown Tulsa. Festivals in Tulsa have come and gone, none of which able to get a foothold. DFest, Free Tulsa, Center of the Universe, and others like these events have left fans craving more outdoor summer music fun. The Hop Jam festival has worked to fill the space of a music festival, while also providing a unique approach to the festival scene. With a focus on craft beers added to the mix, this event has kept crowds popping up since it started in 2014.

This year’s headliners will be Manchester Orchestra. The Atlanta, Georgia indie rock group have steadily made a name for themselves over the past 14 years, making appearances at major festivals in the United States and globally. Joining them will be college radio icons Nada Surf, who have been touring since the mid 90’s. Songs like “Concrete Bed” and “Whose Authority” hit heavy rotation on RSU Radio in the late 00’s. Syracuse indie band Ra Ra Riot will play the event. The band has played Tulsa on multiple occasions, including DFest and the Brady Theater. Memphis Americana group Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors are also hitting Hop Jam as a headliner.

Another tradition of the Hop Jam festival is the local opening band. Each year, fans vote on finalists to join the headliners in front of the downtown crowds. Bands will have until Friday, April 20 to submit their work. Judges will pick several finalists to for fans to vote on from those submissions. Bands can submit their music here.

The annual Hop Jam festival is a celebration of music and beer of all sorts, put on by the Hanson brothers. Who would have through back in the late 90’s that Hanson would be a major part of the beer scene in Tulsa? With their own brewing company, and a major part in this growing music and beer festival, Hanson have become a part of drinking culture over the past few years.

While beer is a big part of the festival, it is an all ages event, and fun to anyone regardless of their level of love of libation. Check out the headliners below, and visit The Hop Jam website for more information.
