Sleater-Kinney Announce New Album, Release First Single

Carrie Brownstein has become a household face for younger audiences with the success of Portlandia, where she often plays a soft-spoken, goofy Pacific-Northwesterner. For those who only know her from her quirky skits, Sleater-Kinney may a shock. The band helped push the sound of alternative rock, and is heavily influenced by the riot grrl movement.

In 2015 Brownstein, along with bandmates Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss broke the news that they would be releasing their first new album in ten years. No Cities to Love was not just a comeback album for nostalgic fans. It was a solid addition to the discography of one of the essential rock groups of the late 90’s and early 00’s.

Four years later, it seems the band is ready to keep pushing on. The group announced their new album The Center Won’t Hold, and dropped their first single “Hurry On Home”. The album includes a big collaboration, handing production duties over to Tulsa native Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent. It is exciting to see what a collaboration between the band and Clark will sound like.
