Friday is new music day, and this week features some big names dropping albums. From reggae royalty to a mainstay in electronic music, here’s what you’ll find on your record store shelves this week.
Com Truise – Persuasion System
The master of retro-tinged synthwave is back with his fourth studio album. Long-time fans may notice some differences, as producer Seth Haley looks to push his sound in new directions with some equipment changes.
Imperial Wax – Gatswerk Saboteurs
The most recent members of the legendary post-punk band The Fall bring a driving, high-energy sound to their first album since the death of Fall front man Mark E. Smith.
Interpol – A Fine Mess EP
The seasoned band follows up 2018’s Marauder with an EP featuring songs from that album’s recording sessions.
Minor Poet – The Good News
This Sub Pop release is drenched in vocal harmonies, and 50’s and 60’s influenced pop.
The National – I Am Easy to Find
The National are indie scene mainstays, despite the fact they broke up, but nobody noticed. Their return to the studio yielded an album full of emotion and diverse sounds. The band also collaborated with filmmaker Mike Mills, lending their music to a short film, also by the name of “I Am Easy to Find”
Tyler, the Creator – IGOR
The Eccentric rapper, producer, and director releases the follow up to 2017’s smash hit Flower Boy. The release date was announce just 11 days before the actual release. So far all we have are snippets from “IGOR’S THEME” and “WHATSGOOD”.
Steel Pulse – Mass Manipulation
Reggae veterans Steel Pulse are releasing their 12th album in their 44 years as a band. While the lineups have changed over the four-decade career, longtime members David Hinds, Selwyn Brown, Sidney Mills, and Clifford Pusey continue to drive the sound of the band.
Quixotic – Goddess EP
This collective of musicians blends artful electronic music with soulful vocals. Even though they just released a new album in March, they are already up for giving listeners new tracks.
Check out the EP’s stream here.
Preston Lovinggood – Consequences
The Birmingham, Alabama songwriter delivers his polished, love-stricken sound with plenty of catchy hooks.
