Press Play: The Beaches

The Beaches are a glamorous take on garage rock. With glossy guitar riffs and lyrics that ooze empowerment, there is no match for this Toronto-based band’s untouchable style. The camaraderie has been long-lasting as sisters Jordan Miller (lead vocals, bass) and Kylie Miller (guitar) joined with Eliza Enman-McDaniel (drums) to make music in their early teens. After a few years, they adopted the name The Beaches and guitarist Leandra Earl.

The rock and roll quartet released twelve headbanging tracks on their debut album “Late Show” in October of 2017. Fellow Canadian rockers Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw from Metric worked with The Beaches to produce the record. This was a fruitful partnership as “Late Show” tracks like Money, T-Shirt, and the title track are brimming with attitude. The album has an undeniable edge with punchy guitar hooks and charismatic vocals.

Back in May, the band released their latest effort, an EP titled “The Professional”. This follow-up is nothing short of dance-worthy. The upbeat tunes are accompanied by witty lyrics that dare you not to sing along. From ridiculing unwanted attention to uplifting their lady idols; The Beaches cover all of the bases.
