5 Can’t-Miss Albums Releasing This Month

todayAugust 1, 2019

Background

August is bringing dozens of new LPs and tons of new music. A flurry of releases can be a bit overwhelming, so here are five records that you don’t want to fly under your radar.

After putting out six albums across multiple projects last year, Ty Segall is already back with another one. “First Taste” is set to release on August 2nd via Drag City. Ty Segall is doing plenty of experimenting with a colorful array of instruments, including the recorder, mandolin, saxophone, and brass.

Ra Ra Riot will be releasing their fifth studio album “Superbloom” on August 9th. The band has released three vibrant singles from their upcoming album. These singles confirm that “Superbloom” is a pop-minded approach to indie rock. You can expect plenty of lavish arrangements that are perfect for riding out the dog days of summer.

August 9th will also be a special day for The Regrettes. The band will will be dropping their second album “How Do You Love?”. The record focuses on the rise and fall of a relationship. There is a lot of promise for this emotional sophomoric effort.

“Thrashing Thru The Passion” is the seventh LP from The Hold Steady and it is set to release on August 16th. The record compiles five brand new songs along with five songs that were previously released digitally. You can expect their signature electric guitar riffs and captivating storytelling.

The heaviest upcoming album on this list goes to King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard. Their record “Infest The Rats’ Nest” (set to release on August 16th) is said to be the heaviest piece of work in the band’s discography. The group will be diving head-first into thrash metal to share their fears of ecological disaster. Environmentally-friendly thrash metal? Yes please!
