Dickens on the Boulevard is Back This Weekend

Dickens on the Boulevard is kicking off the holiday festivities in downtown Claremore this Friday and Saturday. The festival will begin at 6 p.m. each evening, and visitors can enjoy live stage entertainment, historic tours, and educational activities. A Victorian street dance will be held both nights of the event. This festival is free and open to the public but some featured events require purchase.

This event has multiple educational displays and activities, including living window displays and living history demonstrations. Visitors can get an idea of every-day life during the Victorian area while reenactors portraying blacksmiths, spinners, woodcarvers, potters and more answer questions from the crowd and sell their wares.

This years’ Dickens on the Boulevard will feature “Tales from the Top” tours. Attendees can learn about Claremore’s historic landmarks from costumed performers who will tell stories about the buildings and Claremore’s holiday traditions. It will also feature a Historic Walk held on Saturday at 4 p.m. which will educate attendees on the history of Claremore’s buildings, as well as Claremore’s people and stories. Tickets for both of these events are on sale now at Claremore Main Street’s office located at 419 W. Will Rogers Boulevard.

Stores in downtown Claremore will be open until the festivities conclude at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Come dressed in your best Victorian garb to be entered in the costume contest and have a chance at winning best dressed. The costume contest is free and open to the public.
