October in Oklahoma Music

There are few things that beat October.  We get crunchy leaves, firepits, and free candy all month. Really, the only things that can top it are these releases from local artists, and oh, do we have some treats for you.

EP

Mad Honey – Theories

Be still, heart. At the beginning of the month, Mad Honey released their eagerly-anticipated debut EP. The group dropped a single earlier in the year (“Blue and You”).  Theories features their signature ethereality, finding both moments of hazy dreams and soaring emotion.
Next show: Vanguard on November 19

Graveyard Party – Graveyard Party

In the words of Graveyard Party themselves, “Lisa Frank, but make it goth” perfectly describes this band’s sound.  Bright, dancey sounds partner with vulnerable (sometimes biting) lyrics.  The band played an EP release at Chimera with The Daddyo’s.

Content Farm vol. 6: Spooky Tunes

OKC Label Cowboy 2.0 whipped up a special, scary artist compilation for the month.  Spooklight, Jimmy El Camino, Softaware, Endocrine Twins, Bob Zombie, and Larry Chin are featured.

Paranoid Snitch Radio – Stimulation

Paranoid Snitch Radio created not only an EP this month, but a new genre.  The duo who comprise Paranoid Snitch Radio identify as “bunk rock”.  This EP will require close attention and a keen ear, so carve out time in your schedule to give Stimulation a listen.

MUSIC VIDEO

Cliffdiver – “Cameron Diaz”

Let’s cuff those pants, kiddos.  “Diaz” is the first single from Cliffdiver’s upcoming EP At Your Own Risk.  Channeling equal parts boyish indie rock style and strong dad energy, the video gathered over 6,000 views in under a week.
EP Release Show: Vanguard on November 16

Lone Wild – “Stranger Ways”

Take a Halloween house party, add a healthy dose of Stranger Things, and you’ll have Lone Wild’s brand new video. The video features night-time bike rides, D&D, and a scary man in a suit.  It doesn’t get “Stranger” than that.
Next Show: Fayetteville on November 15

SINGLES

Lately. – “Don’t Really Care”

Tulsa indie-pop group Lately. has been dropping singles, and “Don’t Really Care” is the latest in line.  Check out this track, be blown away, and you’ll have nothing left to say.
