Car Seat Headrest is Coming to OKC this Summer

Car Seat Headrest have announced a summer tour as well as a new album titled Making a Door Less OpenThe record arrives May 1st via Matador records. The announcement of the new album confirmed that Making a Door Less Open is a collaboration between Will Toledo and 1 Trait Danger, which is a side project of Will Toledo and drummer Andrew Kats under the moniker “Trait.” The album was recorded twice, one version with a traditional rock band (consisting of drums, guitar, and bass) and another within a MIDI setting using only synthesized sounds. The two vastly different approaches were eventually combined.

On the new record, Trait said in a statement, “The songs contain elements of EDM, hip hop, futurism, doo-wop, soul, and of course rock and roll. But underneath all these things I think these may be folk songs, because they can be played and sung in many different ways, and they’re about things that are important to a lot of people: anger with society, sickness, loneliness, love…” Today also brought the release of Car Seat Headrest’s new single “Can’t Cool Me Down” which you can check out here:
