After a string of singles and quite a few tours (One of which including a stop at Cain’s Ballroom in April of 2019 to support Hippo Campus), rising New York songwriter Samia has announced her debut album The Baby. The debut effort arrives on August 28th via Grand Jury Music. Along with this announcement, Samia shared a track from the new album, “Fit N Full.”
At the age of 23, Samia has impressed many with her collection of songs. Her previous release “Ode To Artifice” grabbed a lot of attention, and rightfully so. The jaunty number was a catchy masterpiece coated in retro-soul overtones. For her debut album, Samia is partnering with tourmates and fellow indie rockers Jake Luppen and Nathan Stocker of Hippo Campus among other friends and collaborators.
Although The Baby sees Samia working in sparkling soundscapes elevated with studio magic, her introspective lyrics are the highlight of her tracks. Opening her new single “Fit N Full” Samia sings, “On the bowery singin’ ‘Country Roads’ / I was outta town when Dymphnas closed / Got prettier in Denver / Phasing out of this old fairy tale / Apple cider vinegar and kale / I’m fit and full as ever.” Check out the album art and tracks below, and pre-order The Baby here.
