24 Hours of Barnacle Banger Festival

While many festivals have cancelled, Barnacle Banger Festival is celebrating its fourth year – now online.  The festival, organized by Kylie Slabby of Black Mold Booking, is streaming on its Youtube Page for free.

Thirteen bands will perform, starting at 12am on July 18th. Bands performing include locals and others from across the country. Ramona and the Phantoms, Chrim, Charlotte Bumgarner, and Spinster are just a few of the locals playing the fest.

Here’s a sample of what you can stream on the 18th:

Cindy Cane
Dressed in all-black and flirting with themes of vampirism, Cindy Cane’s sound twists movie monsters into alluring electro-pop tracks. The New York-based band can be found on bandcamp and Spotify.

Tennis Club

Surf-pop meets midwest with Joplin-based Tennis Club. Buoyant, bubbly, and catchy, the band’s Pink will feel just like a day at the beach.

Men of Action

Tulsa’s Men of Action has a diverse sound but maintains a high-energy rock to most everything they release.  The band’s album Pulp feels like modern music from another era.

Husbands

Husbands from OKC create fresh, bright rock that washes over in sunny waves.  Catch their album After the Gold Rush Party for an afternoon of swaying and bopping along.

Flesh Fiends

We’ve got another one for those beach goths. Flesh Fiends are playing Barnacle Banger from Kansas City. Their dark and synthy sound creeps in and gets stuck in your head.

Buckle Up Baby

With a sound that’s both somehow sweet, sincere, and a little tongue-in-cheek all at once, Buckle Up Baby put a unique spin on indie-pop rock on their 2019 self-released record.
