Singles for the Weekend – 9/11

The weather has taken a drastic turn for the cold. Fear not, these singles will keep you warm and cozy as you adjust.

Bruce Springsteen – “Letter to You”

After releasing 2019’s Western Stars, The Boss has returned.  “Letter to You” is sincere and raw and also happens to be the title track of upcoming album Letters to You. The band produced this collection in five days with no overdubs.

Of Monsters and Men – “Visitor”

If you thought Of Monsters and Men couldn’t get any more haunting, think again.  With urgent vocals, personal lyrics, and surging energy, “Visitor” is running through a nightmare made vulnerable.  The band released Fever Dream  in 2019 and expect new music to celebrate their 10 year anniversary in 2021.

Wallows – Nobody Gets Me (Like You)

Remember when you were young and felt so individualistic and ~unique~? Nobody understood you? Wallows does.  Wallows understands you. This track is the first single from Remote, a quarantine-created EP to be released late October.

Okey Dokey – “It’s Just You”

“It’s Just You” grooves into view with a slightly-beachy rock vibe. This single is from forthcoming record Once Upon One Time, expected in October. The band says of the song:

“This song is about seeing the thing you love slip away, trying to save it, knowing you shouldn’t. Knowing a friend exists in there still. It is also about the difficulty at which we learn these things. I didn’t want to be too specific about which point of view this could be coming from, just that it is a struggle to see and then state the obvious.”
