Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy & Bill Callahan Release New Cover

Over quite a few months now, indie veterans and longtime collaborators Bill Callahan and Bonnie “Prince” Billy have been releasing originals and covers together. In the past few weeks, the two have been bolstering their catalog with covers of 70’s classics like Robert Wyatt’s “Sea Song”, Little Feat’s “I’ve Been The One”, and Lou Reed’s “Rooftop Garden”. Today, the two have dug up something more obscure. Even better, they’ve included Ty Segall in the track.

The cover is “Miracles”, a song from late R&B and soul singer Johnnie Frierson. The singer’s work was recently resurfaced after a collection of Frierson’s self-released songs, Have You Been Good To Yourself, was released by reissue label Light In The Attic. “Miracles” comes off this collection. With the help of garage rock wizard Ty Segall, the duo transform the acoustic track into a slow, psychedelic strut built upon a lighthearted synth track. Together the three make the track entirely their own while still doing the original justice.
