Local Music Roundup- June 2021

June was a big month for local music and music in general. We celebrated Black Music Month and Pride Month on RSU Radio to commemorate the Black and Queer artists that have innovated the music we enjoy today. Now, it’s time to celebrate what Okie artists were up to this past June. Local nonprofit label Horton Records saw a few releases, and we also saw a few singles from OKC outfit Husbands among others. Pilgrim – No Offense, Nevermind, Sorry

 Tulsa-based artist Beau Roberson, better known as Pilgrim, released his latest LP via Horton Records after teasing the album with a string of spring singles. The album treks through  redemption, betrayal, loss, and love over the course of 11 tracks. If you’re looking for a stellar country-tinged blues rock record to keep you company this summer, Pilgrim has you covered.

Winston Churchbus – Waiting

Keep hitting snooze in the morning? A couple rounds of “Waiting” will get your groggy shambling corpse out of bed. Released via Horton Records, this high octane single precedes a brand new LP from Winston Churchbus. Trophy Husband hits the shelves in August.

Husbands – Must Be A Cop

OKC outfit Husbands released “Must Be a Cop” and B-side “Burn The Witches.” The reverb-drenched release came with an equally trippy visual. Still hungry for more? According to the band’s Instagram, more new music is headed your way soon. And don’t forget to catch them at the Tower Theatre on July 16th.

Grayson Hamm – Just The Two Of Us

Keep it psychedelic with Grayson Hamm’s brand new single “Just The Two Of Us.” This slow-burner is a perfect track to show off your fit on Tik Tok, or whatever else you young people are up to.

Keathley – Silhouettes

After all of that excitement, you probably need something to cool down. Consider Keathley’s “Silhouettes” the perfect closer. This somber ballad is sure to bring chills down anyone’s back.
