Big Red Machine Is Back but Not Alone

It seems that a sophomore slump may be impossible for this duo’s upcoming LP “How Long Do You Think It’s Going To Last?“. The band, which consists of The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, hasn’t laid idle since their 2018 debut however. Both Aaron and Justin have worked both separately and together since their last release. The National released their eighth record “I Am Easy To Find“, the fourth Bon Iver record “I,I” came out, and the two also collaborated on Taylor Swift’s latest projects. To the naked eye it figures fans of both Dessner and Vernon have been feed well, Big Red Machine gratefully decided otherwise. Alongside the announcement of their upcoming album, a few songs have been released before the album’s August 27th release date.

All though it may be a true shock for some, avid fans of the band may have already known the album was near after Aaron Dessner seemingly confirmed an album would be out in 2021 and have Sharon Van Etten and Anaïs Mitchell on tracks. This is in stark contrast to their previous record with had zero other collaborators. Dessner however proved to be a man of his word by releasing a single titled “Latter Days” with promised feature Anaïs Mitchell.

Aaron Dessner’s latest work on “folklore” and “evermore” with the songstress Taylor Swift will also be reflected on the album. Vernon, who has also proven himself to be a viable collaborator with Taylor Swift, got the chance to work with the “Cardigan” singer once more as well with two new tracks off the album named “Renegade” and “Birch“. With all this being said, this is surely a smash alternative album to give a listen to this year.

Big Red Machine’s 2nd album “How Long Do You Think It’s Going To Last?” is due out on August 27th.

Latter Days ft. Anaïs Mitchell“, “Renegade ft. Taylor Swift“, and “The Ghost of Cincinnati” off the record are out now.
