Husbands Release New Album

Last month, OKC duo Husbands released their third LP Full-On Monet. The album was written in 2020 both remotely and in person. The record emulates the chaos that ensued during the year 2020 over the course of 12 tracks. The record ruminates on many harsh realities in what the band describes as a “meditation gone toxic.”

The record includes a few familiar cuts like “Ancient One”, “Must Be a Cop”, “Liked to Party” and “Wishbone.” The existential spree includes plenty of new material too. Opening track Bad Sign is a slow-burner that starts it off with an ominous tone, I come to you from the future / Sorry, everything sucks here too. The two cover a lot of ground– from dogs drinking cervezas to god-fearing teens singing at Justin Bieber concerts.

Even though it was concieved in the chaos of 2020, Full-On Monet still feels relevant in 2022 as Husbands ruminate on the ugly truths we’ve all been faced with over the past two years. That rumination takes form in exciting new textures and sounds from the band. Even more exciting, the duo is currently on the road with Sports. You can catch them alongside Sports in Tulsa this April at The Vanguard. Check out all of their upcoming shows (and stay up to date) via the band’s Instagram.
