Sarah Kinsley: “The King” of our Hearts

Finding peace can be hard, especially in times like today. That sense of growing old and feeling new strange emotions can be draining, frustrating, and outright nerve-wracking. There is another side to this step in life though. Freedom, the energy of new chapters, and the tranquility of knowing you are making it. Sarah Kinsley, a New York-based bedroom-pop artist, has seemingly trademarked this universal feeling with her work on The King – EP.

At just the age of 20, Kinsley has made serious strides for her and her music. That is not to say it has always been that easy. The female songstress has used recent events such as heartbreak, growing pains, and delirium to inspire her latest EP which is the predecessor of 2020’s The Fall. Working to put these thoughts into works of art wasn’t new to the artist, however. Since childhood, the “Karma” artist has been at work either learning an instrument or preparing to post a cover on her Instagram or YouTube. The singer, when in conversation with Euphoria, mentioned this work of reinventing old music both delights her and inspires her original music. These personal moments, which are derived from the artist’s dorm room and parent’s Connecticut home, make Sarah’s sound somewhat hard to miss and for sure very hard not to praise.

Starting back with “Wine Stained Lips” in 2019 and The Fall – EP in 2020, Kinsley has been building herself as quite the video producer as well. Featured on her YouTube channel, Kinsley’s music videos exude the same eccentric energy and marvelous handcrafted nature as her music. You can see her latest video for “Hills Of Fire” made by her and common collaborator Lux here:

Though “Hills Of Fire” further solidifies the artist’s sound, Sara Kinsley’s first break-out hit was the title track of her 2021 release The King – EP. The track, which served as a second single for the EP, become a sensation on TikTok seemingly overnight. Overall, with this newfound success and immaculate record so far, it’s safe to say that Sarah Kinsley isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
