Healing Starts with a Conversation
It’s that time of the week again where we find out who’s rocking the block – and who’s taking a walk. Plenty of new names this week, including a couple Oklahoma natives. Shawnee native, Samantha Crain, claims the #7 spot with her new album Gumshoe and OKC band, Audio Book Club, claims their spot at #5 with Born Loser. Born Ruffians’ album, Beauty’s Pride takes #10 this week, proceeded by If You Asked For a Picture by Blondshell at #9 and Horsegirl’s Phonetics On and On at #8.
We lost some good bands this week, with Japanese Breakfast and Mamalarky trailing behind the pack after a long run in the Top 10. Unwed Sailor sets sail and we put My Morning Jacket back on the coat rack, as their albums fall just out of sight of the Top 10. Tunde Adebimpe moves down to #3 this week as Car Seat Headrest takes #1 with their album The Scholars, and Panda Bear’s Sinister Grift is nothing to sneeze at at #2.
This week’s Artist to Keep an Eye Out For hails from Brooklyn, New York. Pon Far mixes bedroom pop dreamscapes with a dash of jazz to create a sound nostalgic and new. Her debut album, Little Grains, released just this past week and features previously released tracks as well as a few new ones.
