Press Play: MSPAINT

MSPAINT is a hardcore alternative rock band hailing from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Many members of the hardcore scene have been praising MSPAINT for adding their own unique twists to the genre, creating a sound never heard before.  Part of the band’s unique sound comes from the lack of a guitar. Instead, the band opts for a synthesizer. Don’t be fooled, though. Even without a guitar, MSPAINT still makes some noise.

Recently, the band released their second EP, called No Separation. The first track, “Drift”, is a great example of how MSPAINT makes the synth work. This track is pretty solid, and I think most hardcore fans will appreciate it, regardless of whether it features a guitar or not. The title track is another favorite of mine, and I think it is a great representation of who MSPAINT is as a band. The group currently has one studio album out, Post-American (2023).
