Urban Wilderness: Turkey Mountain Rocks!
We’ve got plenty of returning names this week, so let’s jump right into it. Up first, Algernon Cadwallader barely breaks the top 10 with his album Trying Not to Have a Thought. Then at #9, Captain Howdy and the Sunset Serenaders seem sedentary, staying in the same spot as last week. Rocket loses momentum, as R is for Rocket falls to #8 after landing at #4 last week. Meanwhile, The Last Dinner Party’s From the Pyre moves up from #8 to #7. Geese migrate south this week, flying from #2 to #6 with their album Getting Killed.
At #5, Cut Copy’s album, Moments, is hanging on to their moment in the spotlight as it enters its sixth week in the top 10. Other Lives makes their second appearance this week, as Volume V moves up from #6 to #4. Automatic is in disbelief as their album, Is it Now?, falls from #1 to #3, Fionn’s Scum works it’s way up to #2, and Jay Som found a sense of belonging as their album, Belong, makes it to #1.
This week’s Artist to Keep an Eye Out For is Snocaps with their debut album: Snocaps. The brain child of twins Katie (better known as Waxahatchee) and Allison Crutchfield, Snocaps marks the first time the two have reunited since their 2016 P.S. Eliot tour.
As for this week’s departing artist – or “departist” – is Blood Orange. After three weeks in the top 10, Blood Orange’s album, Essex Honey, capped off its stay at #10 last week.
