Urban Wilderness: Turkey Mountain Rocks!
This week’s Top 1o starts with some real royalty as Katie Schecter’s Empress makes a grand entrance to the list at #10 – letting The Laster Dinner Party eat their cake at #9 with their album From the Pyre. From right here in Oklahoma, we have Other Lives living it up at #8 with Volume V, followed by Geese’s Getting Killed at #7. Fionn takes a dive this week, as their album Scum goes from #1 to #6.
Two newcomers this week are the silver-tongued Elias Ronnenfelt at #5 with Speaking Daggers, followed by Dragon Inn 3 taking roost at #4 with their EP Full Disclosure. After finishing 8th last week, Automatic makes it to the podium by a hair as their album Is it Now? takes #3 this week. Just shy of the mountaintop, we have Snocaps breaking the ice at #2 with their debut album: Snocaps. And finally, Jay Som finds where she belongs – at #1.
Nobody should have any beef (or should I say “Beeef?”) with this week’s Artist to Keep an Eye Out For. This week, we featured the debut album from Ivy Boy, a.k.a. Beeef vocalist Perry Eaton. Eaton’s self-titled album, Ivy Boy, is folksy and intimate solo-debut that doesn’t forget the beeef.
Now for everyone’s least favorite part: the departing bands. This week, we waved goodbye to Rocket’s red glare, as R is for Rocket blasted off again. Captain Howdy and the Sunset Serenaders went up in a cloud of smoke and after nine weeks in our Top 1o Cut Copy couldn’t stay a moment longer.
