Urban Wilderness: Turkey Mountain Rocks!
Another week, another Top 10! It is always exciting to see what new bands we have, and this week we’ve got a few! Our first new band this week makes an explosive debut – it’s Hotline TNT with their latest album Raspberry Moon at #6. Up next at #4, it’s the new single from The Happy Fits, “Cruel Power,” followed by OK GO at #3 with And the Adjacent Possible. Our last new band this week set their eyes on the prize; at #1 it’s Subsonic Eye with Singapore Dreaming.
With so many new bands joining the ranks this week, it unfortunately means we have to say goodbye to a few brave bands. Among the names in our hall of remembrance, this week we add Nation of Language, Matt Berninger, Car Seat Headrest, and Turnstile. These bands – while gone from our list – shall not be forgotten; if Mamalarky have taught us anything it’s never say never.
This week’s Artist to Keep an Eye Out For comes to us from Orange County California. Wyatt Shears, otherwise known as his stage name Enjoy, makes up one half of the musical duo The Garden with his twin brother Wyatt Shears. Enjoy’s latest album is called The Sound of Deceit and sounds like an album out of time, with vocals and reverby guitar that’s reminiscent of 80’s-90’s post-punk and dreampop.
Artist to Keep an Eye out For:
Enjoy – The Sound of Deceit
Honorable Mentions
Nation of Language – “Inept Apollo”
Matt Berninger – Get Sunk
Car Seat Headrest – The Scholar
Turnstile – Never Enough
