Cain’s Ranked 17th Worldwide for Ticket Sales

todayJanuary 19, 2016

The Cain’s Ballroom has ended 2015 ranked 17th in the world for ticket sales by a venue its size. The rankings look at all clubs worldwide with a capacity of 3,000 or less. The Cain’s achieved this ranking despite holding well under the maximum for the category, at a capacity of 1,800.

For 2015, the venue sold 130,641 tickets to shows, including 27 sellout performances over the year. Cain’s Ballroom General Manager Chad Rodgers believes the venue itself has a great draw. “I think the fans that come to Cain’s Ballroom just get it, as do bands that play here.  The history means a ton,“ Rodgers said.

As for Rodger’s favorite shows from the year, “Modest Mouse, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson come to mind as probably being my favorites, but it’s really too hard to pick.” This year is looking up for the ballroom, as well. The Cain’s already has two sold out shows in March alone. Blues rock guitarist and songwriter Gary Clark Jr.’s show sold out months before the show’s date. Recently the venue announced a show featuring Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Heaters and The Sonics, which sold out within minutes of going on sale. According to Rodgers, “It will be one of the biggest shows we’ve ever had.”

When asked what makes shows successful, Rodgers attributed marketing, booking, and the fans who make the shows feel so energetic. “Almost all the bands that play here say the crowds at Cain’s are great.  It’s always great to hear that the bands feel so loved and supported by our crowds” said Rodgers when describing how a venue with a capacity that is 1,200 people fewer than the maximum for these rankings.
