Tulsa PAC Tells the Story of Will Rogers

Background

The Tulsa PAC is bringing the story of Will Rogers to life with their production of The Will Rogers Follies.

Will Rogers took the world by storm with his incredible wit and out of this world rope tricks. As someone who “never met a man he didn’t like” Rogers’ found success as a newspaper columnist, radio show host, vaudevillian, and as a stage and screen actor making him the highest paid Hollywood movie star of his time. In 1915 he signed a contract with Florenz Ziegfeld and joined the cast of the famous Ziegfeld Follies.

The Will Rogers Follies, which features Ziegfeld Follies style song-and-dance numbers that tell the story of local cowboy, politician, and family man Will Rogers. The Tulsa PAC cast Mitch Adams as Will Rogers and Cathy Rose as Betty Rogers.

RSU’s own David Blakely can also be found in the cast. Blakely is a Communications professor and head of the theatre department at Rogers State University. Blakely will be portraying Will Rogers’ father Clement Vann Rogers, better known as Clem. Clem was a Cherokee senator and judge who had a hand in writing the Oklahoma Constitution. It is not too late to get out and watch as Blakely and the rest of the cast bring the legacy that was Will Rogers to life.

The final showings of The Will Rogers Follies at the John H. Williams Theatre are August 26th and 27th at 8 pm; September 2nd at 8 pm; and September 3rd at 2 pm. You can purchase your tickets at: tulsapac.com.
