Aaron Lee Tasjan on Touring, Empathy and Making Queer Music

Nashville singer-songwriter Aaron Lee Tasjan has a lot to celebrate in 2021. The release of his fourth solo record Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! was acclaimed far and wide with Rolling Stone calling it “a geniune tour-de-force” and NPR declaring, “Tasjan is here to represent, in both lyricism and musical vision, delivered with the whimsy of a sweet and salty spun confection.” He was also nominated for a Grammy this year. His work on Yola’s “Diamond Studded Shoes” earned him a spot under Best American Roots Song (along with Dan Auerback and Natalie Hemby). Hear Tasjan discuss life on the road as a queer artist, the importance of empathy in the wake of COVID-19 and his recent Grammy nomination below.

Tasjan is making a stop in Tulsa this Saturday for an acoustic show at the Mercury Lounge. He’ll be joined by Kevn Kinney of Atlanta rock band Drivin N Cryin. You can find tickets for the show here.
